Number of people are suggesting the state that they want to be here during this pandemic moreover many of them have shown interest to even arrive here for sake of quarantine. ” revealed JaiRam Thakur, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh in a TV media interveiw. If people have to undergo compulsory 14 days quarantine then state hospitality industry could play a vital role, and this could be an innovative suggestions to roll back the state’s struggling tourism industry after the lock down.
Thakur while replying to a query about potential of clean and cool scenic places of the state on the healing affect againsit Covid-19 said that number of international and national tourist wants to visit Himachal when entire Nation is dealing with the lock down due to Pandemic. People are keen to come here as Corona Virus is yet contained in the hill state so far.
Himachal which is a popular international tourist destination is unlikely to pick up the summer tourist season due to ongoing pandemic situation however state is keen to open the gate of hill states for the tourists if the situation would permit to do so stated Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur last night while interacting with a National TV.
Thakur said that tourism is major source of employment for many people and Government would allow the travellers to come in the state but until their is restrictions of lock down they have to wait for more time.
Replying to a query about rate of spreading of Covid-19 in the state Thakur said that most of the cases pouring in the state are among those returned recently from the hot spots or containment zone. The Government decided to open the state border to local people who want to come home as number of stress calls were being received by the state time and again and it could not keep the borders sealed till more time but it led to the spurt in the cases.
“There has been a sharp increase in cases on Thursday. But it happened all over the country. Even if there’s a further increase, we’re fully prepared to deal with it,” he told to NDTV .
Thakur said that state has six medical colleges and enough infrastructure to deal with the pandemic.
He said that most of cases are coming from containment zones however people are being scrutinised before they enter their houses. Government is allowing entry of people those coming from green zone to their home however they have to under go medical screening before, he added.
CM said that those coming from Orange zone have to undergo home quarantine after their medical screening of Covid symptoms, they can head home.
Only people coming from Red zone are being asked to go to institutional quarantine and they have to under go compulsory COVID testing after 14 days isolation.
It is worthwhile to mention here that COVID-19 tally in the state is now 173. In the last three days, there has been a 107 percent increase in the number of active cases – from 55 to 110 . Hamirpur district, in particular, has been hit hard, with its active case tally increasing from 10 to 60 (an increase of 500 percent) within three days. Most of the cases this month include returnees or their contacts.
