A sweltering heatwave hit many places of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday as Mercury galloped many degrees above normal in the state. The Met Office said in a press statement that an unabated heatwave has been continuing in Himachal Pradesh for the last two weeks as day temperatures are soaring six to seven degrees above average with a scorching heatwave. The snow has started thawing rapidly in the high reaches, and BRO is already in the final phase of removing snow from the Baralacha and Sarchu in Lahaul Spiti.
To save themselves from the unusual sweltering heatwave of planes, tourist favourites Shimla, Kufri, Manali, and Dalhousie are witnessing a surge in footfall on the weekends.
The maximum temperature of Una has gone up to 35.4 degrees celsius on Sunday, Mandi and Bilaspur 34, Hamirpur 33, Dharmshala(Kangra), Nahan(Sirmour), Chamba and Solan 31, Shimla and Kalpa ( Kinnaur) 23 and Keylong (Lahaul-Spiti) 17.4 degrees. Met Office forecasts dry weather and heatwave in isolated pockets of Shimla, Mandi and next two days.
