Shimla, June 20
The district committee of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) staged a protest outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Friday against rising prices of essential commodities and fuel.
Addressing the gathering, AIDWA state president alleged that the Centre had continuously increased the prices of cooking gas, petrol and diesel, leading to a rise in the cost of other household items. State secretary said the recent hikes in fuel, electricity and LPG prices had added to the financial burden on common people.
District treasurer Rama Rawat said soaring prices of daily necessities had made it increasingly difficult for women to manage household budgets. District secretary Sonia Shabarwal criticized the Centre, state government and municipal authorities over inflation and warned that the organization would intensify its agitation if effective measures were not taken to control prices.
