Cracking down on professional NDPS peddlers the State police claimed seized 1.11 quintal illicit Charas. This was confirmed by the Director General of Police Himachal Pradesh Sanjay Kundu in a press statement released on the state police whatsapp page here today. Kundu said that this is one of the biggest seizures ever. Needless to say that this seizure is worth many Crores of rupees. As per police the seizure is worth more than 3 crore and 35 lakhs in the international market.
Kundu stated that the HP police has stepped up it’s anti narcotics drive this year and it has
yielded rich dividends. Barring current, recovery of Charas so far in the first fortnight of the calendar year 2021 is 33.2 Kgs. Out of these 4 cases of seizure are of more than 2 kg each and 10Â cases of seizure of more than one kg, he added.

HP Police has also been conducting investigation about the source and destination of these
consignments along with financial investigations so that properties of key accused may be attached or confiscated, he added.
The state agencies are working day-in-out to deal with the various interstate and international drug pedaling gangs however the proportion of crime seemed to be unchecked so far.
Details of the big nab
Based on solid intelligence, on Jan 13, 2021 a 27-member joint team of Kullu district police consisting of police personnel from the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and Police Station Banjar raided the big drug mafia of Banjar area (Gharatgad and Sajahu).
The police team caught both the supplier and the delivery taker of charas from whom about 111 kgs charas was recovered. The price of this charas in the international market is more than 3 crore 35 lakh rupees. Both the above accused are locals of the region.
Afterwards, the police contingent spent 2 hours trekking in the forests in the dark of the night and raided the house of two more suspects in Sajahu village. 11.588 kgs of charas along with two unlicensed guns was recovered in the first house. The accused has been arrested and action taken under section 20 of NDPS Act and Section 25 of Arms Act.
In the second case, more than 295 kgs of ganja has been recovered and the accused arrested under NDPS Act.
The total recovery is as follows Charas- 122. 588 kgs, Ganja 295 kgs. The value of the total drugs recovered is approximately Rs. 4 crore. The operation lasted for about 20 hours. All the said accused were involved in drug activities for a long time and were on the radar of HP Police, DGP added.
