Solan/Shimla, Feb 3
The state police have recovered unidentified bodies of two women wrapped in bed sheets along the Kalka- Shimla national highway near Koti village under Parwanoo police station in this district, last evening.
Solan Superintendent of police Virender Sharma said that the bodies were first spotted by a ragpicker who had gone down the highway to collect the salvage material on Wednesday evening. As soon as he reached the spot he got suspicious and intimated the roadside vendors about the two wrapped bodies. The vendor immediately informed the Parwanoo police, which arrived on the site of the crime.
Pertinent to mention, this was not an isolated incident of recovery of bodies along the highway. Earlier, the police had also recovered bodies dumped in the forests along the Kalka- Shimla highway.
The recovery of the bodies of two women have raised a question mark on the style of functioning of Parwanoo police as despite deployment of adequate force on the interstate border, the hoolignism by revellers, drinking along the highway in full public view and committing of such crimes leading to resentment amongst the local residents.
Preliminary investigations made by the police revealed that the women appeared to be in the age group of mid thirties and belonged to Nepali community. Blood was was reportedly oozing from the mouth of the duo’s bodies and injury marks were also visible on the necks. The bodies were sent for autopsy to Indira Gandhi Medical College Shimla for autopsy. A team of forensic experts also visited the spot to collect the evidence. A case has been registered.
