Deputy Commissioner Chamba D C Rana and Legislator Jai Lal Kapoor took stock of thr situation after visiting landslides affected Chamba Bharmour National Highway near Maihala, said a district spokesman of Goverment.
The MLA and Deputy Commissioner took stock of the condition of the road road blocked by heavy landslides on the Chamba-Bharmour National Highway near Maihala this morning and later held a meeting with experts for early restoration of the same. They also discussed about containing the caving in situation and about landslides prone spots which are dusripting movement of traffic
Experts suggested to use various measures like high pressure spray of water, control blasting, manual stepping, among others to restore the road.
It was decided in the meeting that the Executive Engineer would provide JCB machines on both sides of the National Highway and Power Project JSW road.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Chief Medical Officer to deploy Medical Officers and necessary paramedical staff in the Community Health Center, Chwodi, inorder to cater emergency.
He also asked the Block Development Officer Maihala to repair the walkway. SDM Chamba Naveen Tanwar informed that relief funds are being provided to a family affected by the landslide.
On this occasion, Executive Engineer National Highway Rajiv Sharma, Executive Engineer Public Works Jeet Singh Thakur, Deputy Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu, District Transport Officer Omkar Singh, District Mining Officer JK Puri, Block Development Officer Chamba OP Thakur were present.
Due to heavy rain and snowfall around 400 roads including half dozen of NH affected in the state which are being restored on war footing. Though rescue operations are being hampered by frequent rain and snow.
