Shimla, May 27
Himachal Pradesh Cong unit slammed Jai Ram Thakur Government for issuing inflated power bills charging latter for mismanagement to handle state economy during the lockdown. In a press release issued by the All India Congress committee Member and former Congress Minister Sudhir Sharma said that the recently issued power bills to domestic and some small commercial entities are highly inflated in a while when power consumption has declined in the state drastically during the lockdown.
He alleged that bills were shocking since these have been issued on the end of month and couple of day before the last date of payment.
Congress leader demanded the government to not press people to pay the inflated bills as these are double than of non epidemic period and could not be justified. Sharma said that people are fighting with government unitedly to cope up with the pandemic however Government did not announced any big relief package to hail their efforts in return.
Congress leader sought to immediately withdraw the power bills issued recently to people in the state and waive off the entire charges consumed by them during the lockdown.
Himachal being power surplus state should not burden common men and small traders by issuing them inflated bills he added.
