Shimla, Oct 24
Chopal subdivision of Shimla district is worst affected by the frequent power cut and load shedding due to poor transmission facility, a resident alleged. A resident of Chopal told that the State government has built up a substation at Rohru in Shimla and Karsog in Mandi however those could not be commissioned despite the fact that they are ready to be dedicated to the public since last year.
He said that there is no electricity supply in Chopal area for the last 20 hours. ” Hawa tez chalne par bhi bijli chali jati hai” mere blowing of winds shut down the light ”  he said adding that this trend is continuous since last many years moreover it is the worst since the last 15 days as load shedding and power cut lead to erratic supply frequently in the region.
When spokesman of Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board Anurag Prasher was contacted he said that power cut may be due to repair works on the 66 kV Chopal Loftadhar line.
The board is trying to restore the supply as it is 26.3km long. He accepted that due to long-distance power supply may remain erratic some time. He said that power supply in rest of places in Chopal subdivision was ok.
The issue of erratic supply to Holi area of Chopal subdivision is long pending issue which is on the priority of board to maintain it by changing supply span and work is in progress, he added.
