Three time member of Himachal Pradesh legislative assembly belonged to BJP Rakesh Verma passed away after cardiac arrest a senior medical officer confirmed here today.

Verma was declared brought dead at IGMC after a cardiac arrest. In official social media group Dr Janak said that Ex MLA Rakesh Verma was brought dead to IGMC at 1930 hrs today as he suffered Cardiac arrest.Â
Verma was 59 yrs old. He left behind wife and one daughter and son. He started his political career in 1993 as a BJP candidate and defeated Congress heavyweight Vidya Stokes with comfortable margin. He, however, lost the seat in 1998 to Stokes.
Verma won in 2003 and 2007 as an independent candidate. He was orchardist and builder. He had lost 2017 election on the BJP ticket from Theog againist CPIM incumbent MLA Rakesh Singha.
Verm’ s father Rati Ram Verma is former IPS officer and retied as Director General of State Police . His wife was also in public life and elected member of Zila parishad three times.
