The last 3 days from May 18 onward has witnessed a sharp surge in the number of positive #COVID-19 cases across the state of Himachal Pradesh. Wherein on May 17, a total of 80 cases were reported, is now a tally of 126 till the hour of filing this report. A surge of 46 cases in 3 days. Most of the cases found positive (Barring few exceptions) are reportedly Mumbai returnees.
This morning 5 cases have been reported in Hamirpur, 6 from Kangra and 5 from Solan, confirmed officials.
The 5 cases tested positive in Solan are from Ramshehr of Solan and had returned from West Bengal on May 15.
Those found positive in Hamirpur are a 45 and 21 year from tehsil Bhoranj, 63 year old from Jhaniara tehsil and 51 year and 21 year old from Toni Devi tehsil.
The 6 tested positive at kangra, 41 year female from Adhwani near Jwalamukhi, 54 year driver from Saliali tehsil Nurpur, 24 years male from tehsil Indora, 21 year male from Nagrota Bhagwan, 57 year Male from Jaisinghpur and a 36 year male from Bhawarna in the distrcit. All had travel history from Mumbai.
Till last night the state had recorded highest single day spike as 18 new cases were traced.
Additional Chief Secretary Health and Nodal Officer of COVID-19 R D Dhiman had said that the state recorded spike in the cases as 18 new cases were traced most of them in Kangra district.
Of these 18 cases recorded yesterday, 13 cases were reported from Kangra district alone. Kullu district, reported the first confirmed case of the disease and 4 are from Mandi. Most of patients had returned to the state from Mumbai, officials said.
The cases from Mandi yesterday belonged to Gohar, Thunag, Mandi Sadar sub divisions of the district.
Kangra chief medical officer Kangra , Dr Gurdarshan Gupta Kangra said that 41 yr male resident of village Bajot teh Jaisighpur, travelled from Chennai by train reached Pathankot on May 2020 tested positive today. Currently he was housed at institutional quarantine at Jwalamukhi, his sample was drawn on May 19. A 55 yrs old male driver, resident of upper Khera of Kangra district returned from Delhi presently at quarantine Centre Dalhiara has tested positive. He is being shifted to PRTI Baijnath.
In Kangra, the other cases were reported from five sub-divisions including five in Jaisinghpur, three in Dharamshala and one each in Palampur, Baijnath and Jwalamukhi. Age-wise, three patients are in their thirties, two each in age groups of 20s, 40s and 50s, and two patients aged 8 and 11 years. “All 11 patients were brought back from Mumbai in a special train which arrived at Una on Monday. They were placed under institutional quarantine upon their return,” stated Gupta.
Kullu district which reported its first case on Wednesday, is a man in his twenties testing positive for the novel corona virus in Anni subdivision. He, too, had returned from Mumbai in a special train and was under institutional quarantine, officials said.
With this total active cases have increased to 69. State recorded three deaths and 50 patients have recovered so far in the state.
