The polling for the four Municipal Corporations of Dharamshala, Mandi, Palampur and Solan have been fixed for April 7 next. The notification to this effect has been issued by the State Election Commission (SEC) on Saturday invoking election code in these urban areas. Besides the above Municipal Corporations, the elections to six Nagar Panchayats of Chirgaon and Nerwa in Shimla district, Ani and Nirmand of Kullu district, Kandaghat of Solan district and Amb of Una district has also been declared by the SEC issuing separate notification.
This time, the elections to the Municipal Corporations will be held in party symbols. The Ammendment of 2021 in the HP Municipal Corporation Act has been notified the Rajpatra on Mach 10 last. Out of the four, three are newly constituted Municipal Corporations, namely, Mandi, Palampur and Solan.
In a notification issued by the state election commission said that Four MCs and six NPs would be held on April 7. The nomination for the Election scheduled to be filed on Mar 22, 23 & 24 from 1100hrs to 1500hrs, the papers would scrutinized on Mar 25 (1000hrs onward) and nomination could be withdrawn and to be published on March 27 from 1000hrs to 1500hrs and after 1500 hrs respectively.
The polling would held from 0800hrs to 1600hrs, the counting of votes and results would be announced subsequently on April 7 on Wednesday, 2021.
The state Government decided to conduct the election of councilors of these urban bodies on the party symbols as new legislation was already passed by the state assembly on March 8, 2021.
On Mar 10 State Election commission also announced to held poll in three developmental block of Shimla and Mandi district is scheduled to held on Wednesday April 7, 2021.
The Election for Gram Panchayat President in, Chopal, Totu of Shimla and Dharampur block of Mandi district would also be held on April 7 in similar schedule.
Election to three blocks and six Nagar Panchayat could not held in earlier due pendency of few cases in the High Court which challenged the Election roaster and delimitation of rural local bodies.
