Heavy rain and snow in the state has completely paralysed normal life on Monday as road transport, power and water supply schemes have also got disrupted in most snowline areas.
The incessant rain and snow lasted for two days giving respite on Monday morning as it was mainly sunny. Tourist spots Shimla, Manali, Narkanda, Dalhousie and Kufri received half to one feet thick layer. Moreover most other places were lashed by incessant rainfall also kept normal life out of gear.
One elderly woman died in Bhanot village of Chamba district this morning after heavy rain triggered a landslide.
The entire tribal areas are cut off from the rest of world as nearly 400 roads including Hindustan Tibet National Highway and Manali-ATR-Keylong (NH-3) are snowbound.
In the Capital town power supply has remained eratic in most places, roads are snowbound and commuters are forced to walk on-foot as half feet snow carpet is in the pavement.
Water pipelines freezed in many places in Shimla and many other towns as Mercury plummet several degrees in the minus. Bharmour (Chamba) and Khadrala (Shimla) got 60.9 cm snow, Ghondla (Lahaul-spiti) 40 cm, Shimla 30 cm, Keylong 29 cm and Kufri 20 cm and Kalpa nine mm.
Meanwhile Dhrampur (Solan) had 73 mm rain, Solan 71 and Jubberhatti (Shimla)60 mm, Sundernagar 50 mm, Nahan in Sirmaur 47 mm, Mandi 42 mm, Bhuntar 36 mm, Palampur 26.7 mm, Dharmshala 17.8 mm.
Minimum temperature of Keylong was minus 6.2 degrees, Kalpa minus 3.8 degrees, Manali minus 0.4 degrees, Kufri minus 3.2 degrees, Dalhousie zero degrees, Shimla minus 0.3 degrees.
Sundernagar 3.7 degrees, Bhuntar 1.8 degrees, Dharamshala 2.2 degrees, Una 7.4 degrees, Nahan 8.5 degrees, Palampur 3.5 degrees, Solan 1.4 degrees, Kangra 5.6 degrees, Mandi 4 degrees, Bilaspur 6.5 degrees, Hamirpur 6.8 degrees, Chamba 4.3 degrees, Ponta-Sahib 9.9 degrees.
The Met Office forecasts rain or Snow in a few places of state in the next 24 hrs.
