Shimla, Feb 17
To convert the state’s Anganwadi centers into nursery schools, the Himachal Pradesh Government will provide bridge courses and training to 72 Anganwadi workers in the state. This was stated by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while presenting the 2024-25 budget estimate in the state assembly on Saturday.
Sukhu said that the government has fixed the age of 4 and 5 years for admitting every child to nursery classes, and they would be promoted to the first standard after attaining 6 years.
He said that the government would start a new scheme to adopt each school in the state, in which including the Chief Minister, the council of ministers, and members of the assembly would be members of the school performance committee. The ministers and members of the assembly can adopt schools to ensure funds for maintaining them. He said that the performance committee would review the quality of education in the schools, and an online portal would be set up to review the performance of each student, which would be done on a monthly basis.
Sukhu said that teachers who are often found absent from the school in the guise of distributing posts at the block and district education department would be checked by ensuring that posts for the schools are distributed once a week. Teachers would not be allowed to miss their classes to distribute school and departmental posts and correspondence every day. He said that each school would be free to decide on their own uniforms.
An Institute of Excellence for physically disabled children will be set up in Kandaghat of Solan district to provide boarding education. Besides this, a drug addiction center will also be set up at Kandaghat. He also announced the start of “CM Sukh Shiksha” education for all widows having less than one lakh income to provide free education and professional education to their wards. Rs 127 crore would be provided for this new scheme.
