The death toll of COVID-19 increased to five in Himachal Pradesh with death of an elderly 63 yrs old woman at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College Ner Chowk on Monday. A 72 yrs old woman also died of Covid-19 at Indra Gandhi Medical College Hospital Shimla on late Sunday night, Additional Chief Secretary Health and state Nodal Officer Covid-19 R D Dhiman confirmed of death of a patient at SLBSGMC. He said that death toll of Covid -19 now increased to five.
Senior Medical Superintendent of SLBSGMC Ner Chowk Dr. Devender Sharma confirmed that the second Covid patient died in the medical college today as 63 yrs old Woman identified as Ashoka Rani wife of Ganesh Dass Village Rati and Tehsil Balh of Mandi district admitted at SLBSMC Ner Chowk in Mandi on May 19 succumbed to pandemic. She was tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 on May 20. The deceased was suffering from Diabetes Mellitus and end state Renal Disease. The patient was undergoing dialysis twice a week. She developed health complication at 1300 hrs on Monday and declared dead on 1615 hrs in the medical college. He said that body of the patient would be cremated according to WHO guidelines.
Senior medical Suprintendent of IGMC Shimla Dr Janak Raj stated that a 72 yrs Old female patient was under going treatment in the hospital suffering with multiple organ diseases. also died around 2215 hours on Sunday at IGMC Hospital. She had referred from Hamirpur tested Corona positive in IGMC two days before. Woman was first hospitalised at Bhota hospital of Hamirpur and after deterioration she was referred to IGMC. The deceased belonged to Dogha village of Hamirpur district and her husband is also contracted with Covid-19 is under going treatment. Deputy commissioner Shimla Amit Kashyap also said that last rites of deceased was cremated today.
With two more death the total toll of Covid -19 in the state increased to five recorded and 6 unrecorded. Earlier on May 15 a 52 yrs old man suffering due to severe respiratory problem belonged to Hatli village and Galore area of Hamirpur district died of novel corona virus while being shifted from CRS hospital Bhota to SLBSGMC Nerchowak Mandi. A 21 yrs old boy from Sarkaghat area of Mandi district died due to kidney failure at IGMC Shimla on May 5 tested positive for SARS-COV-2 at Shri Lalbhadur Shastri Government Medical college Nerchowk . In March a Tibetan identified as Tanjin Chhople died of COVID-19 at Dr RPGMC Tanda.
The unrecorded sixth death was also a woman who belonged to Jharmajari of Baddi Barotiwala industrial area died of Pandemic at PGI Chandigarh in the month of April.
#COVID tally mounted to 223
The state registered twenty new cases since last night as 8 people tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in Kangra , 4 each in Chamba and Shimla, 3 in Bilaspur and 1 in Hamirpur district.
Senior Medical Officer said that three samples taken on May 24 from Bilaspur district was found positive today. He said that 20 samples were analysed of Bilaspur district in the hospital out of which three tested positive, one inconclusive and 16 positive.
Deputy commissioner Kangra Rakesh Prajapati said that 6 found positive in the state on Monday include a 36 yrs old resident belonged to Daulatpur, a 64 yrs man of Jaisingpur, 70 year old man resident of Jaisingpur and a 42 year male from Pudwa. All travellers from Maharashtra. Presently they were at institutional quarantine Paraur in district. DC said that two elderly man (64 yrs and 70yrs) are being shifted to Zonal Hospital Dharamshala. Two others are being shifted to Covid Care center Dadh outskirt of Palampur.
Chief Medical Officer of Kangra Dr Gurdarshan Gupta said that two men tested positive early today in district including a 39 yrs man from Dadh village and 36 yrs male from same village, duo returned to state from Ahmadabad on May 21. He said that a 48 yrs old Taxi Driver belonged to Paisa near Jawali, returned to state on May 14 from red zone Mumbai tested positive last night.
CMO Chamba Gurmeet Katoch said that four people tested positive for SARS-COV-2 belonged to Churah vidhan sabha of Chamba district. They had recently returned to the district from Chennai arrived via train and were staying in institutional quarantine at DIET(district institute of Education Training) Saru and Kasturba Gandhi hostel Tissa. They are now shifted to Covid Care Center Ayurvedic Hospital Chamba with confirmation of sample positive.
Dr Janak MS IGMC Shimla also confirmed that samples of four people belonged to Shimla district tested positive at IGMC Shimla. Deputy Commissioner Shimla Amit Kashyap said that one 45 yrs old found positive belonged Pragatinagar of Kotkahi area today. Three patient tested positive earlier in the district hailed to Chopal area of Shimla district. DC said that all returned from Mumbai on May 18. All them were in institution quarantine at Deha since their arrival here. DC urged people that there is no need to be panic as no person is found in contact with the new contracted patients.
He said that total number of COVID-19 positive cases increased to five in Shimla district which includes two women belonged to Hamirpur (deceased) and another of Mandi district both tested positive while they are in Shimla.
Deputy Commissioner Hamirpur Harikesh Meena said that the 25 yrs old woman under institutional quarantine at the local Medical College hospital was found Corona Positive today. She belonged to Pahloo village of the district and returned to her in-law house from Mumbai on May 22. Her husband aged 29 years was also found Corona positive and was in a Covid center of the district for treatment and isolation.
Una district recorded maximum ten cases in last 24 hrs mounting state tally above two hundred. Additional Chief Secretary Health and Nodal Officer of Covid-19 R D Dhiman said that 11 samples belonged to Una district tested positive on Sunday however the patient
was also tested positive earlier. Dhiman said that this patient was also detected positive on May 14 and is being treated for Covid-19 in quarantine center.
He said that 62 yrs old resident of Kolka village of Bangana in Una district, 28 yrs old resident of Ripoh of Amb Tehsil and a resident of Chukhan village of Bangana Tehsil tested positive on Sunday as the three had returned to state on May 18 from Mumbai in a train. They were in kept in Quarantine Centre at Trishama Hotel Bhadala .
Two others resident of village Jawal of Amb Tehsil and village Jhambar of Una Teh and district were also tested positive on Sunday as they returned the state on May 23 and were in quarantine centre at PWD rest house Una .
A resident of Panjawar village of Haroli Tehsil of Una, posted as Home department as Guard was tested positive. The victim was on posted on his duty since May 5 from 0700 hrs to 1900 hrs at Palakwah quarantine centre . He was returning home during the duty have four members in family including children and wife.
Total positive cases in the state till today increased to 223 as 151 active patients.
Now total number of cases increased to 63 in Hamirpur District with 56 active, 59 in Kangra including 42 active, Una 30 with 13 active cases, Solan 20 and 11 active cases, Chamba 18 with seven active cases, Bilaspur 11 with seven active cases, Mandi 11 with eight active cases, Shimla six and active four , Sirmaur four with two active cases, Kullu one with one active cases.
Now only the two tribal remote districts including Lahaul Spiti and Kinnuar are unaffected by the pandemic in the state.
