Himachal Pradesh Witnessing Sharp Surge in COVID-19 Cases, Active Cases almost Double in 5 Days

Himachal Pradesh has been witnessing a rapid surge in COVID-19 cases since early March, with now, active cases doubling in just five days. According to the latest data from the state health department, there are currently 1493 active cases, a steep increase from 755 cases reported on March 30.
Also, it becomes the third day to have reported more than 300 cases.
On Tuesday, the state reported 306 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Himachal Pradesh to 315,331.

The state health department also reported 5626 samples were tested on Sunday, of which 306 were found positive. This reflects a daily positivity rate of more than 5 per cent. No deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
The district-wise data shows that Kangra continues to be the worst affected district, with 252 active cases, followed by Mandi with 296 cases and Hamirpur with 239 patients. The remaining districts have reported fewer than 200 active cases each.
Bilaspur has reported the highest number of new recoveries with 19953 cured patients, followed by Kangra with 69703 cured patients. The state has recorded 309,621 recoveries and 4196 deaths so far.
