Indian Meteorological department has issued a yellow alert of heavy snow or rain in Himachal Pradesh in the next 24 hrs. Spokesperson of IMD said in a press release issued here today that heavy rain is likely in plains or low hills, heavy rain or snow likely to occur in mid hills and heavy snow likely in high hills.
Met Office said that under the influence of a intense Western Disturbance heavy rain is likely in the districts of Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur. Adding, Heavy Rain or snow is likely in the districts of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla. Also heavy snow is likely in the districts of Lahul and Spiti and Kinnaur on Jan 8 and Jan 9.
“Disruptions of essential services viz. water and electricity, communications and related services. Visibility Conditions very likely to decrease. Possibility of Landslides due to heavy rainfall or snowfall in hilly regions.” warned the Met Office.
Meanwhile, Lauhal Spiti district received light snowfall in the last 24hrs and Keylong received a trace of snowfall.
Bhoranj in Hamirpur had six mm rain, Baldwara in Mandi five mm, Sujanpur , Guler in Kangra and Nahan in Sirmaur three mm.
Minimum temperature of Keylong were minus nine degrees, Kalpa minus four degrees, Kufri minus one degrees, Dalhousie 1.5 degrees, Manali 0.1 degrees, Shimla 3.2 degrees, Dharmshala 4.2 degrees, Solan 4.7 degrees, Bhuntar 5.2 degrees, Sundernagar 5.5 degrees and Una 8.6 degrees.
Nahan in Sirmaur 9.3 degrees, Palampur 6.5 degrees, Kangra 8.4 degrees, Mandi seven degrees, Bilaspur 9 degrees, Hamirpur 8.8 degrees, Chamba 7.6 degrees, Jubbar Hatti 5.6 degrees and Ponta-Sahib 9.7 degrees.
