Shimla, Oct 22
Deputy Commissioner Kinnaur Abid Hussain Sadiq said today that rescue operations to find the missing trekkers on the Uttrakhand Himachal trek route restarted at 0630 this morning, by the Army and ITBP Jawans. They were able to trace two more bodies near Lamkhaga pass in Kinnuar district at the height of 17382 ft from the sea level.
He said that five bodies were recovered on thursday with help of Army Helicopter on the pass however four were still missing. He said that the Army helicopter and ITBP restarted rescue at 0630 hrs on Friday and succeeded in finding two more bodies. He said that two trekkers were still missing. He said that search of trekker started from Nithal Tach.
Both the bodies were taken to Sangla by the rescue party. Five bodies of trekker traced by the rescue party yesterday were handed over to their family members by the Uttrakhand Government. DC said that rescue operation would continue to trace out two more trekkers who may have died in the snowfall .
Out of the 11 trekkers including three cooks from Uttakhand only two have been rescued alive, Deputy Commissioner said that rescue parties were taking down both the bodies however name of any of the seven deceased trekkers could not be identified so far. The trekkers bodies were found at different places in the snow were collected at one place today to be handed over to their relatives.
Eight trekkers and three cooks left for Chhitkul from Harsil of Uttarakhand on Oct 11 who were scheduled to arrive here on Oct 19. However they got trapped in snow of Oct 17 and 18 in at 17382 ft high altitude while crossing the Lamkhaga pass, DC added.
