The discussion encompassing phony degrees won’t fade away inside the Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry.  As Modi Cabinet 2.0 assumes responsibility for their delegated portfolios, recently designated HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank might be found in focal point of one more phony degree discussion.

During the 90s, the Open International University (OIU) of Colombo presented a DLitt for his commitment in writing. And after that, a couple of years back he got another DLitt degree from a similar college for commitments in the field of science. Be that as it may, OIU is neither enrolled as an foreign university nor as a domestic university of Sri Lanka. As indicated by a media report the data is affirmed by the University Grants commission of Sri Lanka.

Opposition expresses that his fixation for the ‘Dr’ suffix has driven him to get two honorary doctorate degrees from a Sri Lanka-based international university. Though truth is yet to unfold, counterfeit degree or not, former Uttrakhand CM Ramesh Pokhriyal has assumed responsibility at the HRD service.
