NH 5 Kalka Shimla road opens for LMVs after 6 days of closure

Reports arriving here that the NH 5 Kalka Shimla road has been opened for LMVs including pic-up, this afternoon. However the information is not yet confirmed by any competent authority, reports from field confirm the development.
Noteworthy that a 50- 200 meter stretch was washed off due to a landslide recently, after which this road was blocked. Authorities have been trying to restore the same by working day & night. They have been trying to throw the road open since Monday evening, however persistent rain caused obstruction while hampering restoration work
The opening of this route is very critical, not only for the usual commuters, but also Apple season in the State is getting effected due to the road closure. Even supply of other vegetables and goods is getting effected or delayed as trucks and buses have to travel through a longer route to reach either way.
Meanwhile the district administration has also temporarily put an hold on the toll tax being charged on this route.
