National Investigation Agency (NIA) sleuth arrested former SP and IPS officers Arvind Digvijay Negi from the state on Thursday, confirmed an police officer. Soon after his repatriation to state police on November 20 or 21 he was questioned and searches were conducted at his ancestral home at Dunni valley Kinnaur district and Shimla in Himachal.
Negi was arrested from Kelestan in outskirts of this capital town by the central agencies on Thursday evening however state police are tight lipped and clueless on the NIA action.
Negi was repatriated to Shimla from the NIA in month of November last year after an alleged case of espionage against him. On Jan 20 state police spokesman said that Arvind Digvijay Negi, IPS, who is a seasoned police officer and has worked in National Investigation Agency (NIA) and worked upon important cases of National interest, has also been made a member of the SIT formed to investigate the Mandi hooch tragedy.
The state police confirmed that Negi who was in the NIA was repatriated to the parent cadre. Senior officials of Kinnuar district said on November 27 that NIA team along with jawan of Himachal Pradesh Police searched the ancestral village house of Negi at Dunni village under Kalpa subdivision.
One official source in the central agencies said that the senior police officer, is being suspected for his involvement in allegedly leaking sensitive information to a human rights activist who might have passed it on to Pakistan.
Negi has been considered a reputed IPS officer and his father also belonged to the state police officer cadre. He conducted the successful investigation as the SIT member in PMT scam.  During his tenure as DSP Shimla he was considered the most competent and upright officer.
Negi was reported booked by its former agency for leaking important documents or information to LeT operative but officials confirmation of charges could not be done.
