Shimla, Jul 5
Opposition Congress, CPI(M) and teacher’s union slammed BJP cabinet minister Mahinder Singh Thakur for casting aspersions on the teachers recently in a public function.
Congress Legislator from Shimla Rural Vikramaditya Singh said in a statement that Mahinder Singh should seek apology from teachers as his remarks have put a question mark on the services rendered by the dedicated teachers of the state. He said that remarks made by Minister indicate his mentality. Singh said that the minister was earlier too, found losing his temper and rebuking public servants.
CPI(M) Member of Zila Parishad from Mandi Khushal Thakur said that minister is trying to undermine the role of teachers which they played while risking their lives to organize the Panchayati Raj and Urban body polls. They conducted online classes and worked relentlessly to make online education process a success. The minister should know that the lock down was announced by the Government and council of ministers, therefore the teachers could not be held responsible for the same.
Minister is known for casting such aspersion in the public several times in the past too, he added. He is publicly rebuking officers and openly making statements which are unconstitutional and not within his ambit to state. The CPI|(M) further demanded action
against the minister for making a fuss on others instead of doing his own work efficiently.
They said that the Minister should mind his own business as the state of Irrigation and Public Health is apathetic. Several schemes are nonfunctional and when people raise queries about the same he publicly denies and talks of their affiliation to a particular party.
Teachers unions and other employees leaders have also condemned the statement of the minister seeking immediate apology from him. President of Himachal Pradesh Govt Employees Association Virender Chauhan condemned the statement of the minister. He said that the minister is trying to take the government teachers community very lightly.
Minister addressing a public gathering at Mandi recently stated that the teachers enjoyed the lockdown by remaining at home. He said that the teachers are among those government employees who enjoyed this period, however later they were in frontline to get vaccination. The Minister also stated that barring employees of IPH department, most Government employees were at home and enjoyed this period.
