There shall be a complete ban on the display of results of any opinion pre poll or exit polls by any media organisation till polling day on October 30.
Chief Electoral Officer, Himachal Pradesh, C. Palrasu said that there shall be a complete ban on the display of results of any opinion pre poll or exit polls in compliance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India in view of the bye-election-2021. Till the polling day fixed on October 30, 2021, there will be a ban on the publication or broadcast of any such survey, he stated.
He informed that no media house could display the result of any voter pre poll survey in any print or electronic media or any other exit poll (including exit polls).
The display of any election related material will also be prohibited for the period from 600hrs to 1830 hrs on October 30, 2021 (Saturday).
He said that section 126A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 provides that no person shall conduct an exit poll and the result of an exit vote poll shall be declared during such period as may be notified by the Election Commission in this behalf. He said that any person who contravenes the provisions of this section shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.
The display of any election related matter, including the results of any opinion poll or any other poll survey, in any electronic media during the following 48 hours shall be prohibited.
