Shimla, Jan 29
Seeking immediate reinstatement of victimised staff, the workers fired from 108 and 102 ambulance services held an indefinite ‘dharna’ outside the National Health Mission office at Kasumpti in Shimla town on Saturday. These workers held the protest under the banner of CITU.
State President of the Union Vijendra Mehra and General Secretary Prem Gautam extended support for the agitating employees. Mehra said that the organization would intensify the protest for restoration all such private workers, statewide.
“Mad Swan Foundation company should continue with the services of theese workers, otherwise there would be a statewide ‘ghero’ of management, added the CITU leaders.
108 and 102 Contract Workers Union Convenor Manohar Lal and co-convener Praveen Kumar alleged that more than two hundred drivers, Emergency medical technicians and Captains, who have been working since many years, have been unnecessarily fired from their jobs.  He said that this company is also following the footsteps of the former company GVK.
Hundreds of laborers have been retrenched after changing the contract and instead new appointments have been made on the basis of nepotism and recommendation.
Meanwhile, the state government and the health department are silent on all this. They have demanded that the workers fired from their jobs should be reinstated. Salary should be given to the laborers as per decision of the Court and labor laws should be implemented, they demanded.
