The Communist Party of India (Marxist) supports the dharna demonstration by the New Pension Employees Association (NPSEA) on the reinstatement of the old pension on October 24, 2020 and demands the government to immediately replace the new pension system with the old.
“The pension scheme should be restored and all sections of employees should be given their right to pension” said Sanjay Chauhan, Party’s State Secretary.
He alleged that under the pressure of international financial institutions, the government is implementing neo-liberal policies against workers, peasants and workers in the country and state by implementing economic reforms and the new pension scheme is also the result of these policies.
The then NDA government led by BJP in the country implemented the new pension scheme from January 2004, whereas in Himachal Pradesh, earlier on May 15, 2003, the then BJP government implemented it in the state for pension of employees. The authority was abolished.
“The demand made by the employees to change the old pension scheme from time to time, and all the governments that followed it, be it the Congress or the BJP government, ignored the demand” he said further.
The CPM urged all the employees to mobilize and fight against these workers, farmers and anti-employee policies of the government to overturn them.
