Seven migrant labourers from Bihar today lost lives here in a road accident. All labourers had come from Bihar and were going to Behna village near district headquarter of Mandi in a Pickup Jeep when the incident took place. Additional superintendent of police Mandi Ashish Sharma said that 7 labourers from Bihar state died in a road mishap while they were going to a nearby village Behna in a pickup Jeep.
As per initial investigation the driver lost control on said vehicle and the Jeep fell down in Suketi gorge from the bridge of Pul Gharaat. He added that six labourer had lost their lives on the spot and one died in Mandi Hospital while undergoing treatment.The driver of pickup Jeep is also under treatment and out of danger. Reportedly all the migrant labour had come here for work with a local contractor who invited them for the job.
The destination of labourer was Chakkar village on NH 21 Chandigarh to Manali but mistakenly they crossed it and reached Mandi bus stand. So contractor provided them pickup Jeep to get back to Behna village but on the way this fatal accident occured.
