An Aganwari worker from Hamirpur district died at IGMC Shimla as she was referred here  after deterioration of her condition following Administration of Covid Vaccine. Indra Gandhi Medical College Hospital Shimla Senior Superintendent Dr Janak Raj confirmed that patient died on Sunday.
He said that as per guidelines, post mortem of deceased was conducted and media persons would be briefed about the incident at 1500 hrs.
What happened

A 56 years old anganwari worker, Promila Devi of Saudd village of Sujanpur block of the district died at the IGMC, Shimla on Sunday morning where she was taken for treatment as her condition detoriated due to Vaccination in the first round of vaccination programme for the frontline workers in the district.

Official sources said here today said that the condition of Promila Devi had deteriorated after the vaccination and from Hamirpur she was first sent to Tanda Medical hospital for treatment. However, when there was no improvement in her condition, thereafter she was referred to IGMC Shimla where she succumbed Sunday morning around 0500hrs.

CMO, Hamirpur, Dr. Archna Soni also confirmed the death of Promila Devi. She said that she (Promila) died at IGMC Shimla.

Meanwhile, people of the area are highly upset and aggrieved over the death of Promila Devi and have demanded that adequate help should be given to the next of kins of the deceased and an enquiry into her death be also conducted.

Earlier yesterday Union Health Ministery Additional Secretary Dr Manohar Agnani have sent  a letter to all state government advising  to take  steps as per guidelines after death of Vaccinated person.
Dr Agnani said in the letter that since the initiation of the COVID-l9 vaccination drive on l6th January 2021, some deaths following COVID l9 vaccination have been reported from districts.
