The Himachal Pradesh National Law University organised a virtual Environment Conclave on 13 October 2020, from 10:00-02:00 pm. It was organised by the Centre for Environment and Disaster Management of the Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla.

Distinguished speakers from across the country shared their views on the topic. Learned professionals from the armed forces, legal paraphernalia, academia, and the judiciary and media graced the occasion.

Justice Swatanter Kumar, Judge (Retd.) Supreme Court of Indiawas the Chief Guest for the inaugural session of the Conclave along with the Guest of Honour Prof. Gurdip Singh Bahri, Chancellor, IMS Unison University, Dehradun, and special Guest Prof. Dr. Jagbir Singh, University of Delhi. Prof. (Dr.) Nishtha Jaswal, Vice-Chancellor HPNLU, Shimla presided over the Inaugural Session.

During the Session a book titled “Expectations of Mankind and Sustainable Development Goals” was also launched which is an edited publication on issues related to environmental jurisprudence and Sustainable Development Goals.

The Inaugural Session was followed by two technical sessions, one Presided by Dr. Asad Malik, Associate Professor, Jamia Milia, Delhi and Dr. E. Prema, Asst. Professor, VIT School of Law, Chennai and the other presided by Dr. Madhuker Sharma, Dy. Director, SLS NOIDA, & Dr. Varun Chachar, Asst. Professor, Lucknow University.

Dr. Girijesh Shukla, Associate Professor of Law and Convener of the CEDAM, HPNLU, Shimla and Dr. Chandreshwari Minhas, Assistant Professor of Law moderated the two technical sessions.

The event witnessed participation of 65 participants from across the country including from the legal and other institutions, especially social sciences.
