Shimla, Nov 10,
A shocking case of cyber impersonation has surfaced in Shimla after multiple fake Facebook profiles were found using the name and photographs of Shimla (Urban) SDM , a young and popular Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service officer. One of these accounts reportedly posted an AI-generated obscene image, prompting the officer to file an immediate complaint with the police.
According to the police, the case has been registered at New Shimla Women Police Station under Sections 78 and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 67(A) of the Information Technology Act. The FIR was filed based on a written complaint by the female SDM, who stated that unknown individuals had created several fake Facebook accounts misusing her identity and pictures.
The officer discovered a disturbing post from one such fake account containing an AI-generated image. Shocked by the content, she immediately reported the matter to the police.
Police officials confirmed that a team has been assigned to trace the IP addresses and identify the culprits behind the fake accounts. “The matter is serious as it involves the misuse of artificial intelligence for defamation and harassment. The investigation is underway,” said an official from the New Shimla Police.
