Deputy Commissioner Mandi Rigveda Thakur said that a total of 12405 candidates will now contest at Mandi district after withdrawal of names for the elections of Zilla Parishad, Panchayat Samiti and Gram Panchayats.
He said that a total of 16916 candidates had filed their nomination papers in the district out of which 3388 candidates have withdrawn their names, while 1123 members have been elected unopposed. These include 2 of the Panchayat Samiti, 15 of the head of the post, 14 of the deputy head and 1092 persons of the panchayat member.
