After withdrawal of names for the elections of Zilla Parishad, Panchayat Samiti and Gram Panchayats, a total of 20684 candidates will now contest in the Kangra district. Giving information, Deputy Commissioner Kangra Rakesh Kumar Prajapati said that a total of 23425 candidates had filed their nomination papers in the district out of which 1833 candidates had withdrawn while 908 members were elected unopposed including 4 of the Panchayat Samiti, 2 Pradhans and 4 of the Deputy Chiefs and 898 ward members.
Giving break-up he informed that 28 candidates of Zilla Parishad, 97 candidates of Panchayat Samiti member, 239 of Pradhans and 257 of Deputy Pradhans and 576 ward members are in contest in the development block Baijnath. There are 18 candidates of Zilla Parishad, 114 candidates of Panchayat Samiti member, 213 of Pradhan and 257 of Deputy Pradhan and 621 ward members in the development block Indora. In Kangra block  27 candidates of Zilla Parishad, 132 candidates of Panchayat Samiti member, 253 of Pradhan and 288 of Deputy Pradhan and 853 of ward members are contesting.
 He said that in the development block Lambagaon, 20 candidates of Zilla Parishad, 105 candidates Panchayat Samiti member, 230 of Pradhan and 273 Deputy Pradhan and 542 for ward members are in the election.  There are 23 candidates of Zilla Parishad, 135 candidates of Panchayat Samiti member, 230 of Pradhan and 286 for Deputy Pradhan and 783 for ward members in the Vikas block Nagrota Bagwan. In the development block Nagrota Surian, 16 candidates of Zilla Parishad, 115 candidates of Panchayat Samiti member, 233 of Pradhan and 287 for Deputy Pradhan and 631 ward members are in the fray. In the development block Panchrukhi, 20 for Zilla Parishad, 77 Panchayat Samiti member, 196 for Pradhan , 202 Deputy Pradhan and 463 for ward members are in battle. In the development block Rait, 34 candidates Zilla Parishad, 148 Panchayat Samiti member, 305 for Pradhan, 375 for Deputy Pradhan and 916 for ward members. In the development block reconciliation, 9 candidates Zilla Parishad, 127 Panchayat Samiti member, 306 Pradhan, 352 Deputy Pradhan and 759 for ward members are contesting. In block Dharamshala, 15 candidates of Zilla Parishad, 81 candidates Panchayat Samiti members, 137 for Pradhans,  157 Deputy Pradhans and 425 of ward members are in the fray.
Deputy Commissioner said that 11 candidates of Zilla Parishad, 122 Panchayat Samiti member, 248 of Pradhan, 284 of Deputy Pradhan and 728 of ward members are in the fray in the development block Noorpur. In the development block Fatehpur, 28 candidates for Zilla Parishad, 146 for Panchayat Samiti member, 285 Pradhan, 332 for Deputy Pradhan and 816 for ward members are in the fray. In the development block, Paragpur, 27 candidates of Zilla Parishad, 127 candidates Panchayat Samiti member 311, Pradhan, 372 Dy Pradhan and 884 of ward members are in the fray. Â In the development block Dehra, 22 candidates Zilla Parishad, 142 Panchayat Samiti member, 358 Pradhan, 433 of deputy head and 935 of ward members. In the development block Bhawarna, 12 candidates Zilla Parishad, 86 Panchayat Samiti members, 181 Pradhans, 216 Deputy Pradhans and 592 ward members are in the fray.
