Himachal Pradesh Youth was buried in Saudi Arabia against his religious rites, Congress member Satpal Raizada of Una raised this issue in the state assembly on Tuesday.
Raising the issue through the point of order soon after the question hours on today Member drew the attention of house towards a serious issue.
A youth belonged to his assembly identified as Sanjeev was living in Saudi Arabia for last few years died there. He said that soonafter the information of his death aggrieved family raised this issue with external affairs ministry and union minister of Finance for state Anurag Thakur for hand over of the body to them.
Member said that the deceased youth was hospitalized in a local hospital but his condition deteriorated and he died there after one month. No information about the death of youth was given to his colleagues by the hospital staff in Saudi Arabia. As the family members came to now about death of this youth they contacted the SA embassy and also appealed the Union minister for state for Finance Anurag Thakur on Jan 27 to help the family to get handover the body of youth but no respite.
Raizada informed that on Feb 17,2021 affected family were informed that the body of deceased has been cremated by the hospital as per muslim method. The family member said that as per the documents his religion was changed while doing last rites. The family member also informed the union government about the same.
Raising this issue through the house member demanded that family member should be helped to solved the issue.
Replying to the issue Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that member should have been expected to raise the issue under rule-61, so that the house could have been uprised with more information about the issue.
Based on the information given by member Chief Minister said that it is unfortunate that last rite of youth did not happen as par his religious faith and government is with the affected family. Thakur said that his government would take up this matter with union ministry of foreign affairs.
