Modernising the process now soon Vehicle passing is going to get high tech. The transport department has resolved to buy mobile automated system in the future. As per a report 6 mobile automated vehicles are being bought, which shall travel around the district to do vehicle passings as per pre set schedule. Currently all vehicles have to come to Taradevi (Shimla) for the job and passing is done manually by the vehicle inspector. During the inspection Steering, body brakes, etc have to be checked in detail. Conducting the whole process manually takes a lot of time. The new technology would identify faults automatically and thus fasten the process. However the dateline for the 6 units to get operational have not been clarified.
