A veteran Journalist cum PR professional Rama Sharma left the entire media community of this hilly state and organisations where she had worked, in gloom and sadness.
After prolonged illness on May 30 Sharma left for her heavenly abode at the age of 85yr, informed her family member. She worked for many decades as a journalist and remained affiliated to Navbharat Times and English dailies. Her last official position in public sector was as Director- PR in State Electricity Board. She had worked as PR person during the tenures of erstwhile Chief Ministers Dr Y S Parmar, Ram Lal and Shanta Kumar.
During her long career in field of PR and Journalism she earned rapport as noted journalist by devoted and impartial reporting. ” She was straight forward and a kind-hearted person, remembered Sushil Sharma, a senior journalist from Himachal Pradesh. “She was associated with many social service organisations and was always up to do charity for poor and needy people,” he added. She was also an environmental activist and contributed a lot to preserve the cultural heritage including artifacts, monuments, etc.
Seasoned and experienced Ms Sharma was highly supportive, motivating and lively in her approach towards life. Writer remembers the encouragement ushered by her on launch of the first hyper local pullout for HP while both were working for BCCL (Times) group.
President of Himachal Working Journalist Forum Kanwar Yogender expressed shock over her demise.
Ms Sharma’s daughter is also a journalist in the The Tribune group at Chandigarh. She got inspiration from her mother to be a journalist.
