CPI(M) member of assembly Rakesh Singha alleged in the state assembly that the BJP Government could not contain the repent scams and misuse of public funds during the lockdown as medical equipments and other material were precured on the exorbitant rate in Chamba distirct.
Speaking on the thanks motion to Governor’s address in the assembly on Wednesday, Singha said that during Covid pandemic a number of scam and misuse of public funds took places including santisers and PPE kits scam.
Laying paper in the house Singha alleged that Rs 9.32 lakh thermal scanners purchased at the exorbitant rate of Rs 10,571.70 per scanner for the health department in Chamba district.
He said that National Medical Store Plaggar supplied masks to the health department on the rate quotation of Rs 580 per mask . He said that vendors were provided Rs 33,250 by the health department.
“I wanted to ask the government, what sort of mask the government has purchased at such an exorbitant rate,” Singha asked. He stated that I have bought five N-95 on the price of Rs 499 from Amazon.
Singha said that a worker in Amb hanged himself in the ceiling of the factory as company management was forcing him to sign on blank paper. He said that 811 outsource employees of electricity boards were retrenched by the electricity board. He said that Government have stated in the Guv address that due to shortage of internet and smartphone with the student education facility was provided to the door step of students. I would stop coming to this assembly if treasury benches could have sited any exemples about offering doorstep education facilities to the students during the lockdown.
Number of private education institutions exploited the students and their parents after demanding school fee from them, however this government did not come to their rescue, He said that some students were forced to bear the hardship as they were constantly being harassed by the school management to pay the school fee. A woman belonging to Theog assembly segment has been moving from pillar to post for the last ten years as her name is not entered in the Panchayat register . The woman have knocked the door of court to registered her name in the Panchayat despite the court passed an order in 2012 in favour of the complaints the issue could not resolve. She also raised the issue in BJP Government’s flagship programme Janmanch in 2018 but it could not be sorted out so far.
Singha said that the Government should end the deadlock of opposition to end the continued absence of them from the house and all members should be allowed to attend the session. This house could not be expected to run by the members of treasury benches.
