After presenting a cheque of Rs 7.4 Cr (USD 1 Million) SJVN the state based Hydel sector company joined as Corporate – Member of International Solar Alliance (ISA). Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, of the company  presented the cheque to Upendra Tripathy, Director General, International Solar Alliance (ISA) in the august presence of R. K. Singh, Minister of Power & New and Renewable Sources (I/C). Sharma apprised that, this prestigious membership will provide SJVN a global platform to garner cooperation amongst member countries to enhance the use of Solar Energy in a safe, convenient, affordable, equitable and sustainable manner. He further said that. ISA is the only International body with exclusive focus on Solar Energy. Till date, 67 countries have ratified the Framework Agreement of ISA and 86 countries have signed the agreement.
Sharma further said that, now SJVN would get associated with various projects/ schemes/ events of ISA as its Corporate Member, which will provide both brand visibility and business benefits to SJVN. The benefits will be of immediate and long-term nature, which include updates on latest technologies, R&D, innovation and opportunities for business expansion in various other countries. SJVN has set aggressive targets of capacity addition in the coming years.
The International Solar Alliance (ISA) was conceived as a coalition of solar-resource-rich countries to address their energy needs. The objective of International Solar Alliance (ISA) is to work for efficient harnessing of Solar Energy to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and it aims to support the member counties and other international organizations in their efforts towards achievement of Universal Energy Access and Combating Climate Change.
