The high reaches experienced another spell of snowfall and downstream is being lashed by light rainfall as it was cloudy on Saturday. Moreover Indian Meteorological Department warned of widespread rain or snow on Jan 4 & 5 in the state.
Report arriving here said that high reaches of Himachal Pradesh experienced mild to light snowfall in last 24 hrs .
Gondla in Lahaul Spiti had 21 cm snowfall, Koksar 13 cm, Pooh in Kinnuar 10 cm, Samdho eight and Kalpa six cm.
Tourist resort Manali also had 11 mm rain, Keylong in Lahaul Spiti Nine mm, Bilaspur and Jhanduta eight mm, Amb in Una and Dharmshala seven mm each, Nagrota Suriyan and Chamba six mm, Dehragopipur, Kandaghat, Kasauli in Solan, Palampur in Kangra and Nadaun in Hamipur five mm each, Guler, Gaggal, Shimla and Solan three cm each.
The IMD cautioned widespread rain or snow on the mid and high reaches on January 4 and 5, when most places in the sate may receive snow and rain.
The Met Office has issued orange warning for the two districts of Kinnuar and Lahaul Spiti of heavy rain or snow in next two day.
Yellow warning in five districts including Chamba, Kangra, Kullu Mandi and Shimla of widespread rain and snow in next 24 hrs.
The coldwave would be to be severe in high reaches and dense to very dense fog in may occur in the lower hills on Jan 6 after inclement weather.
Experts state that as a result, the day temperature may fall by five to seven degrees and the night temperature by two to three degrees, the forecast said. January 6 onwards, the minimum temperature may further decrease by several degrees, and parts of the lower hills may witness dense fog.
Meanwhile tourists have been advised not to venture in the the higher reaches of Shimla, Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu and Chamba districts during this time and to remain constantly in touch with the local authorities.
Meteorological officials further said that traffic, electricity and water supply may get disrupted in the high hills of the state on account of snowfall. The minimum of  Keylong in Lahaul recorded the coldest at minus 6.2 degree Celsius, Kalpa in Kinnuar minus 0.6 degrees, Dalhousie minus 0.4 degres, Solan 4.5  degrees, Kufri in Shimla in three degrees, Mandi six degrees and Sundernagar 6.6 degrees.Bhuntar in Kullu 7.2 degrees, Chamba 4.9 degrees, Kangra 9.2 degrees, Bilaspur 6.5 degrees, Hamirpur 6.8 degrees, Dharmshala in Kangra 5.4 degrees each, Una 7.7 degrees, Palampur and Nahan in Sirmaur nine degrees each respectively.
