Virbhadra Singh passed away at the age of 87yrs

Six times former chief minister Virbhadra Singh passed away at the Indra Gandhi Medical College Hospital Shimla as he took last breath at 0340hrs in the hospital, Sr Medical Superintendent of IGMC Dr Janak Raj said.
Born on Jun 23, 1934 in the house of Raja Padam Singh at Sarahan in district Shimla Mr Singh was qualified as BAC(Hon) and MA left behind a wife , four daughters and a son.
Mr Singh was elected for Lok Sabha and re-elected in 1967, 1972, 1987 and 2009. He remained member union council of Ministers in Congress and UPA government as Deputy Minister for civil aviation and tourism from 1976 to 1977 and Minister of state for Industries on 1982 to 1983 and Union Minister from steel and micro, small and medium industries from 2009 to 2011 .
He was elected from Jubbal and Kotkhai Assembly constituency in by-election on Oct 5,1983 and relected twice in 1985 , he was also Elected for state assembly in 1990, 1993, 1998, 2003 from Rohru Assembly and elected from Shimla Gramin as MLA in 2007 to 2012 and elected for member of assembly from Arki (Solan) from 2017 to 2021.
Mr Singh became Chief minister of the state on April 1983 to March 1990 and again December 1993 to March 1998. Leader of Opposition from Marc 1998 to Mar 2003.
He was elected Chief Minister for third term from Mar 2003 to Mar 2003 to December 2006 . He became the chief minister from March 2012 to Dec 2017.
Mr Singh’s wife Ms Pratibha Singh was elected Member of Parliament from Mandi in 2004 and his son is member of Assembly from Shimla
